ENDLESS POETRY / POESÍA SIN FIN / Alejandro Jodorowsky / 2016 / Chile/France / 128 min

In Spanish, English subtitles

Endless Poetry is director’s cinematic memoir that is an independent continuation to The Dance of Reality which was released two years ago. Endless Poetry portrays Alejandro Jodorowsky’s young adulthood in which he decides to become a poet against the will of his family. He is introduced in the inner circle of the artistic and intellectual avant-garde of the time. Totally immersed in this world of poetic experimentation, they live together freely, sensually, madly. Endless poetry is a warm autobiographical movie that is charming even when filled with the most surreal things.

b. 1929

Jodorowsky’s life shows him to be an accomplished and versatile artist in a variety of disciplines: film director, but also actor, dramaturge, poet, essayist, author of comic strips and mime as well. Fascinated with esotericism, he practices psychomagic and reads the tarot, and uses these skills in his Art. Jodorowsky’s life and art has been driven by the will to bring about a true artistic revolution, exploding convention and demolishing barriers between genres. His career as an artist is followed by the endeavor to abolish the barrier between auteur cinema and blockbuster movies, between art and life, between magic and reality.  (Based on a text by Philippe Rouyer)
